Ash

I shudder

At the coldness of your heart

And your shoulder.

I shiver.

At your lack of empathy

I quiver.

I retreat.

At the sound of your barreling voice,

I’m empty.

I helplessly shake

Each time your voice quakes.

I’m awake!

I’m aware

Of the hollow in your soul

But I am here,

Right where you desire,

Never letting go.

I’m on fire.

I burn,

Reaching into your flame.

I’m scorned,

But I love you still the same.

As the hands of time heavy weigh,

I wonder,

How long until my ashes blow away.
